For nearly two decades, Lauren Rico has been able to combine her love of music with her passion for public radio. A longtime student of the French horn, Lauren holds a master's degree from George Mason University. She has worked at radio stations in Tampa; Washington, D.C.; Austin and New York City. She was host of WDAV's Mozart Cafe on WDAV from 1997 - 1999. She spent over seven years as a host on Classical 24, Minnesota Public Radio's nationally syndicated classical music service. Over the last several years, Lauren has delved into broadcast production, hosting and producing 5 seasons of Minnesota Opera radio broadcasts as well as the Gracie Award-winning documentary series "Instrumental Women." These days, Lauren is heard in the New York metro area on WSHU in Connecticut and on Sirius Satellite as a back-up host of Metropolitan Opera Radio broadcasts when she is not on The Early Shift or filling in at WDAV.
